Do you put much thought into how light and endurable your running shoes are when you are tying them on for your next run? Do you wonder why your adidas Outdoor jacket keeps you warm and dry at any weather when you pack your backpack for your next trip? Probably you don’t – and you shouldn’t have to. Most people just expect products from adidas to meet their own and their sport’s requirements – and that’s the way it should be. Therefore we invest a lot of time and energy into thinking about such questions in order to come up with products which help you achieve your personal peak performance. An important aspect to make this mission come to life is to choose and develop the ideal materials. In order to create the best possible conditions for this process, we just recently opened an all new materials studio in Laces. It is literally a treasure chamber.

Aubrey Dolan is a passionate athlete, Irish football-maniac and a meticulous worker. What better job could such a person imagine, than being a Senior Football Product Manager at adidas which involves meeting with all the big names such as Robin van Persie, Phillip Lahm or David Villa in order to further improve football boots? Getting offered a job at adidas was “like all my Christmases coming at once,” he says in an interview with Irish Times. The article is my click-tip of today. It shows very well how Aubrey ended up in Germany, what his job at adidas is like and why he is so passionate about it. Check out the article here.
Yesterday, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) unveiled the Game Makers’ uniforms for London 2012. As I am the adidas Product and Project Manager for the uniforms, this was a very special day for me. It was the day the team and I have been working towards with LOCOG for the last two years.
My job is to coordinate and to oversee the entire product creation process from the first design sketches to the products’ delivery to the warehouses. LOCOG set the brief for what they would like the volunteer’s kit to look like and the functionality that they wanted from the product. I am responsible for driving the project, making everyone happy and bringing together the needs, ideas and visions of LOCOG, the IOC and adidas.
