“Women who shape the future of sports” Series (Post 2)

“Women who shape the future of sports” Series (Post 2)

In the course of this series I am meeting various successful women at the adidas Group who have successfully tackled hurdles and advanced their careers. This time I spoke to Beate Stoll, Director End User Computing at the adidas Group. I can tell you: Beate impressed me! She didn’t only impress me because she is in her current role instrumental in the creation of the Vision for the IT Workplace of the future and strategy for the adidas Group. She didn’t only do so because she has a team of 28 people located in three regions, overseeing the IT Workplace for 30,000+ employees worldwide. What impressed me even more is that Beate seems to be always open to change and brave enough to embrace it. Her motto is “change the things that you are able to change and accept the things that you can’t change but try to make the best out of it”. I find this approach very inspiring and interviewed her on various facets of change to understand what this mindset is all about.

I’ve been working for the adidas Group for over five years now. My first week at adidas five years ago – a reflection

My first week at adidas five years ago – a reflection

What the heck!?!? Five years!! I wrote a blog about my first weeks at adidas, and now five years have gone by. Honestly, it feels like I blinked, and it’s five years later. I’ve moved on from watching the popular American TV show ‘House’, and am now into ‘The Walking Dead’. And my colleagues in Germany have turned me into an avid ultimate frisbee player and watching football at outdoor viewings. And I’m not talking about American football. I’ll explain the Germany thing shortly. Why am I reflecting on this now? Well, I had a reality check when a candidate (I am working in the Human Resources department) recently sent me a note and said he wanted to join adidas after reading my blog post that I wrote five years ago. Then I checked my old post and realized thousands of people have viewed it. So I had to stop and look back.

Five Years Ago…

How social integration benefits your time as an expat

How social integration benefits your time as an expat

Living abroad is an unforgettable and rewarding experience but, as all expats know, it can also be challenging at times. After reading the post Living abroad – the challenge of relocation written by South African born Michele Steyl, I was inspired to share my experiences as a Brazilian working and living in Germany. I started working as a Trainee in HR at the adidas Group headquarters in January 2011. One of the most important lessons I have learnt is that social integration is, for many reasons, a key factor for living and working in another country. Therefore, some of my colleagues and I formed part of a community that has supported me with exactly this: the Unite Trainees Unite Network (UTU) has greatly enriched my experience in Germany.
