How an Employee Committee contributes to the installation of the adidas Group Daycare Center

Our daycare center “World of Kids” (WoKi), which is currently build at our headquarters in Herzogenaurach, is getting bigger and bigger. The construction area is changing continuously and the big opening day is getting closer! We are also progressing with the set-up of the operation of the daycare center.

Last year in September, the Work-life Integration team set up an employee committee for our daycare center. We asked HR to select representative employees from their area of responsibility. The reason for setting up this employee committee was, on the one hand, to give our employees the opportunity to give feedback and get insight into the planned educational concept. On the other hand, we want to learn from their experiences and include diverse backgrounds from different nationalities into the educational concept of the daycare center.

Last Wednesday was a very special day for me and my team. We, the adidas Group IT Service Desk Team in Herzogenaurach, received the “Service Globe 2013” at the Service Desk World Conference in Cologne, Germany. This prize might be described as the Oscar for IT Help- and Service Desk organisations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, awarding innovative concepts and implementations.

Showdown between Per Mertesacker and Sven Bender at the adidas headquarters

This evening, in Nuremberg, Germany will play Kazakhstan in the latest round of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Despite their busy schedules, three of the national team players, Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker and Sven Bender found the time to stop by adidas Headquarters in Herzogenaurach for an equally exciting contest. On Monday, March 25th at 12 noon there was a showdown at the adidas Brand Center. Two teams, ‘Team Bender’ and ‘Team Mertesacker’, went head to head, alongside adidas employees, in a tough battle to become the winners of the first ever adidas football quiz.

adidas employees “Jump Into The Year Of Running” to celebrate Boost

For many days, weeks and even longer, there has been a lot of excited talk and a lot of rumours around the launch of the Energy Boost within the adidas Group. After this groundbreaking innovation finally hit the stage in New York this past Wednesday, it was about time for adidas employees to celebrate the running revolution. At our headquarters in Herzogenaurach, for example, employees had the chance to try out the “Energy Boost” running shoe and to take a crazy jumping picture on a trampoline.

University of Loughborough honours Herbert Hainer

Striving for innovation has ever been an integral value of adidas since Adi Dassler decided to provide athletes with the best possible equipment. But innovation is not only about product concepts such as the adidas F50 adizero. Sometimes it’s also about creatively improving the way how you create products and how to make most out of the circumstances. Adi Dassler for example created a legendary treadmill apparatus (see picture) to generate energy to operate machines by pedal power before electricity was generated in 1923.
