It’s been quite a while since I finished university and, to be honest, I had almost forgotten what it feels like to sit in an auditorium with fellow students and listen to a lecture. Therefore, I was really excited to accompany Jan Brecht, CIO of the adidas Group, to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg only a few days ago. Together with two of his senior managers, Ingo Winterhoff and Christian Martin, Jan held an exceptional lecture, providing insights into “New Retail Technologies”.

“It doesn’t pay off, it is too complex and it will not work”. Despite all concerns Jan Brecht, CIO of the adidas Group, and his organization kicked off the “Bring Your Own Device” Program last year.

And it works. It allows our employees to access company email and calendar functionality via private smartphones and iPads, while keeping all security standards for company data. “Taking the ‘empowered employee’ serious means that we allow our employees to help shape their workplace in order to maximize productivity. An increased spectrum of mobile devices through the ‘Bring Your Own Device’ program is one element of that approach”, says Jan Brecht.

Global IT welcomes new “Campus IT” participants

New trainees on the block…

Global IT and Human Resources have kicked off the second round of Campus IT and warmly welcomed seven new Business Analysts from the US, UK, China, India, Netherlands and Germany.

Following last year’s successful program launch, the new participants have joined adidas Global IT to become business athletes for the topics CRM, BI, Master Data, eCommerce, User Experience & Design, Wholesale as well as Mobile Applications. The goal of the program is to train the selected IT talents on both, their individual topic, as well as the bigger adidas Group context.
