“Hell, yeah! This is the perfect opportunity for me to combine my big passions: music and sports!”

This was my response to a call to action that hit my work inbox in Moscow a short while ago.

Only 4 weeks later I found myself at the adidas Group HQ in Germany – getting ready for my live performance on the biggest stage I’ve ever played on.

My band “Flare” – Ed, Zhenya, Max and Vasya and I – had responded to the call and landed on the HQ campus. The place was set up like our very own 3-striped Coachella, bursting with thousands of adidas colleagues!

At the annual internal adidas Global Brand Conference market teams from all over the world meet with their global counterparts to prepare the upcoming sales season. It’s a crazy week with lots to do, but more importantly: lots of fun celebrating our people, brands and products!

“This year’s event resembled a festival, with food trucks, sports activities, a Ferris wheel (!) and of course music.”

Mariya Teplyakova, Merchandising and Planning adidas Russia

Our brand motto “calling all creators” was omnipresent at the opening evening. Not just because it was printed on a zeppelin flying over our heads with a camera. Most of the main acts who performed on stage were our own adidas employees – including my band Flare!

For the people from the people

Can you imagine seeing your name plastered on posters all over the company’s premises? It feels amazing! And it was absolutely ok that our CEO Herbert Hainer and Head of Global Brands Eric Liedtke were leading the lineup. Our performance was followed by the band Rudimental – meeting those pros backstage was my personal highlight of the night.

It felt really special being part of this experience. I’m proud to be working for a creative company that not only tolerates but celebrates the creativity of its employees.

Thanks adidas for letting me BE A ROCKSTAR!
