On August 31st, the dreams of a group of Chinese special needs students came true when NBA superstar Dwight Howard visited them and interacted with them in an adidas-sponsored event in Shanghai. Held in partnership with adidas non-profit partner, Half the Sky Foundation, the event was held at Changning Primary Vocational School and attended by both the disabled students from Changning as well as children from welfare institutions in Nanjing and Changzhou.
Dwight spent the morning mentoring and coaching the children with basic basketball skills and shared personal stories with them, imparting values such as passion and hard work.
Dwight was joined by adidas staff volunteers who played games with the children and assisted Dwight during his coaching sessions.
The event at the Changning Primary Vocation School in Shanghai is the latest demonstration of the adidas Group’s long-term commitment to community investment in China.
This is also the second year in a row that Dwight has joined the adidas community investment programs. During his last trip to China last year, Dwight launched the adidas Migrant Children’s Programme at Pinghu Yuxin Primary School.
