Today, the “Adilette” is arguably one of our best-known shoes of all time – it is to be found in living rooms, on the streets, at the beach and even in discos. But at the beginning, there was a clear goal that had nothing to do with today‘s iconic character. In the 1960s, the German football team, among others, asked adidas for a shoe that they could wear in the changing rooms and showers.

At the time, the developers only had the German football players‘ health and safety in mind: they wanted to protect them from things which lurk in communal showers. But the Adilette has a character of its own and it soon became more than just a shower sandal. Various models were developed in the period up to 1972, and ever since then the Adilette has been a regular feature in our catalogues. To this day, it is one of our best-sellers worldwide. To celebrate the 40^thanniversary of the iconic “Adilette” we decided to invite employees to have a “wear-your-Adilette-at-work-day” and to send us pictures of them wearing a pair. In addition, a miAdilette version will be coming out soon.
